Volunteering

A volunteer in Peru

Volunteering in Peru offers a unique opportunity to work for local communities, non-governmental organizations and at the same time improve your Spanish. Being a volunteer in Peru means experiencing rich cultural diversity, getting new friends from all over the world, and intercultural work experience.

We offer a variety of volunteer programs in Cusco and its surroundings. Volunteers themselves choose the area in which they want to help. There are positions in public schools, hospitals, after-school projects, nursing homesand projects for so-called "street children". We also offer a program in Quito, Ecuador. Some of these projects are in Cusco, but also in more remote localities, such as the Sacred Valley.

There is, normally, no special knowledge required for volunteer programs. In general, however, each program requires minimal time commitment and a certain knowledge of Spanish. If you are interested, we will provide you with a language course corresponding to your level of Spanish. You will then be placed in a program of your choice or your experience.

Each volunteer contributes financially to the chosen volunteer program. These funds are then funded by specific support activities, such as educational material, supplies of medical material, assistance in children's education, etc.

As a standard, participation in the project is required for a minimum of 4 weeks. It is primarily participating in education and working with children in general (local children's mentality requires this minimum time to adapt to "new faces"). Of course, we are able to offer you shorter programs according to your timing.

For the duration of the project, we guarantee the support in all areas because we are aware that working and living in another country can be very challenging in some respects (mainly due to different cultures). That is why it is important for volunteers to have complete support from our side, especially:

  • finding the appropriate position

  • accommodations

  • Spanish lessons

  • cultural activities and excursions.

Before your project starts, you will receive the complete information package about your project. Upon arrival, you will attend the introductory meeting. Throughout your activities, you will be provided with a coordinator communicating in your native language.

How to proceed?

We will need:

  • Your general resume

  • cover letter

  • required location/position

  • contact information.

When assessing your request, we will take into account:

  • Your personal and work experience

  • Your personal and business goals

  • duration of the participation in the project

all in line with the requirements of the project.

In the case of mutual agreement between you and the project, we will send you a confirmation letter with all the specific information of your position in the project.

If you are interested in participating in volunteer programs, please contact us via the contact form.

All participants in volunteer projects will receive a 10% discount on all travel agency offers.
