The Sacred Valley was a very important territory for the Incas because it was an important source of agricultural production. Today, the world's finest corn is grown here.

 

Excursions around the Sacred Valley go along the banks of the Vilcanota River. This river is a river of several names: the original Incas name was Vilcamayu - the Holy River. Today, the name Urubamba is rather used.

In the morning we leave Cusco and climb up to 3900 masl, then drop down to 2,800 masl and start exploring the small town of Pisac with extensive Inca terraces.

 

After the visiting the Pisac archaeological complex, we will go to the typical local market of the local artisans and artists.

 

Then we head to the town of Urubamba where we dine in a typical local restaurant. After lunch, we will head to another important city of Incas, Ollantaytambo where we will visit Inca ruins of the city founded by Inka Pachacutec.

 

On the way back to Cusco, we stop at an attractive tourist spot in Chinchero. Here we will visit Inca ruins and a church from the colonial period, which represent the contrast between the original Inca architecture and the European colonial architecture. Chinchero has been rumored to be the "birthplace" of the RAINBOW.
