Color Mountain, or Rainbow Mountain, is also known as Winicunca, according to the Winicunca community living near it.

 

On this trek you will see picturesque villages with houses of unburnt clay, locally called adobe, the lamb and alpaca herds, as well as the magnificent view of the nearby Ausangate mountain (6385 masl), the highest mountain in the Cusco region.

 

We'll pick you up between 3.00am and 3.15am, and through the Southern Valley will take you to the approximately 3hrs remote Hanchipata community. Here we stop for breakfast, after which we arrive in 15 minutes in another community named Quesiuno (4326 masl). Here we will begin our trek, which will take about 2 hours to the Color / Rainbow Mountain at an altitude of 5020 masl. Here we will have plenty of time to explore the surroundings and take pictures.

 

After about an hour (depending on the weather conditions), we will return to the Quesiuno community. We'll get to Hanchipata where we have our lunch. After lunch we head back to Cusco.
