DISCOVER PERU WITHOUT LIMITS
Program
DAY 1: CUSCO - CLOUDY FOREST - PILCOPATA
We will pick you up early in the morning and leave Cusco at 6.00am. We will ascend to the village of Paucartambo. On the way, we will visit the funeral towers called Chullpas in Ninimarca. Then we will go through a mysterious misty forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and ferns.
We will stop to observe the Cock of the Rocks / Gallito de las rocas / Rupicola peruviana and other bird species typical of this region. When we are lucky, we will also have the opportunity to see the representative of a single bear species living in South America, the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). At night we arrive in the village of Pilcopata, where we overnight in a typical hostel (with a private bathroom).
DAY 2: PILCOPATA - PAITITI LODGE
After the rich breakfast we will continue with our tour. On the way, we will again have the opportunity to observe different species of local birds. In the afternoon we arrive at our hostel (with private bathroom) in Paititi Lodge. After the rest, we take a longer walk in the countryside.
DAY 3: PAITITI LODGE - COLLAS - COCHA MACHUHUASI - PAITITI LODGE
After the breakfast, we will go on with our program. We will board the boat called Collpas in Quechua language, where we go to watch parrots feeding on the clay . We will also visit La Cocha Paiti (Laguna Paiti), where we will change to the catamaran that is typical for this area, and we will observe local wild birds, caimans, monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans and various kinds of insects, turtles, and if we are lucky also the capybaras. We will return to the hostel and spend the night there.
DAY 4: PAITITI LODGE - ATALAYA - CUSCO
In the mornig we board the boat at the Paiti Lodge and via Pilcopata we will arrive at Atalaya. Then we take the bus to the former capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco, where we arrive at approximately 8.30pm.
