DAY 1: CUSCO - SANTA MARIA

 

We will pick you up at 10.00am and set off to Ollantaytambo in Sacred Valley. There we will have lunch and then, through Abra Málaga Pass (4200 masl) we get to the town of Santa Maria, where we spend the night in the family house. Another option is to get to Santa Maria by the mountainbike.

 

 

DAY 2: SANTA MARIA - SANTA TERESA

 

After the breakfast, we will start our trek. Throughout our journey along the Vilcanota River, we will have the opportunity to try to taste fresh fruits, such as bananas, mangoes and oranges, grown in this area. We enter the jungle through a narrow sidewalk, we will walk past coffee, manioca and coke fields. We get to a place with a breathtaking view. Later we will have lunch in the family restaurant and after the lunch we will continue to Cocalmayo, the thermal springs located in the beautiful surroundings of the local mountains. Here we will enjoy the warm waters from these springs and after a short walk we get to Santa Teresa, where we spend the night.

 

 

DAY 3: SANTA TERESA - AGUAS CALIENTES

 

We start the third day at 7.30am. After two hours, we cross the Urubamba River. After another two hours, we get to Santa Teresa Hydroelectric Plant where we stop for the lunch. From here, we will have two options to get to Aguas Calientes, either by foot for about two hours along the railway track or by Perú Rail train (about 40min). After dinner in Aguas Calientes we will have the chance to visit the local thermal springs.

 

 

DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

 

We will depart at 4.30am to get to Machu Picchu at 6.00am. An alternative way to get to Machu Picchu Citadel is a bus ride (25 min). We take part in a guided tour and take photos. Another option is to either visit Huayna Picchu and Templo de la Luna (The Temple of the Moon) or the Machu Picchu Mountain. In the afternoon, we return to Aguas Calientes, we will have lunch and by train we return to Ollantaytambo from where private transport will take us to the hotel in Cusco.
