This tour represents the best introduction to the history of Cusco as the Inca capital and the Spanish era of the conquest of Peru.

We start at 14.00h on the central square Plaza de Armas, where we first visit the cathedral and cathedral chapel. Then we walk through the Qoricancha Temple, where we explain the essence of the fighting between the Incas and the Spaniards. We will also visit the interior - the Santo Domingo Monastery - which is built on the remains of the Inca Sun Temple.

Then we take a bus outside of Cusco, where we will visit several important sites on the ridge of the mountain above the city: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

Sacsayhuaman is a citadel that looks down upon Cusco from the height of the mountain. The beginnings of the construction date back to the preinca-cultures. But it was the Incas who transformed it into a magnificent fortress that is still present.

The following stop is Qenqo, a holy Inca site approx. 6kms away from Cusco. Besides the ceremonies, the mummification of the deceased was also done here.

Tambomachay, with a series of aqueducts and canals, will provide us with the demonstration of Inca water management.

The last stop is Puca Pucara, or "The Red Fortress", which helped the Inca to protect Cusco.

After the tour, we will return by bus to Plaza de Armas.

All of these sights, except the Qoricancha Cathedral and Temple, can only be visited with the tourist ticket (Boleto Turístico General / Parcial).
